Madison and Mackenzie Re-cap: The girls are approaching their "4 week " anniversary. It has been a roller coaster ride but great progress has been made. From day one, they have been little fighters - two steps forward and one step back is what the doctor said would happen and this has been the case.

Mackenzie has had to deal with a heart murmur, low oxygen levels in her blood, staying on the ventilator, apnea episodes and other issues. Bottom line is that she has fought through every problem and now weighs 2 lbs, 3 ounces (she began at 1 lb, 11 ounces). She still has breathing episodes but is making ground every day. And by the way, she has now been held by Megan and when we left today, a proud Cade was holding her and both of them were very content.

Madison has not had as many issues. She has apnea episodes but this is normal for babies this premature. They think she might have an infection in her PIC Line (this is probably not the right acronym). It is the intravenous source of vitamins and nutrition. They have started her on antibiotics and if she continues her normal pattern, she will respond in great fashion. She has progressed at a steady pace and she now weighs 2 lbs, 6 ounces (she started at 2 lbs, 0 ounces).

The doctor has said the girls are doing good for "26 week" babies but told Megan and Cade that there is still 3 weeks of a "roller coaster" ride. In other words, there will be other things to overcome but these two little fighters will answer the call. It is really hard for Mom and Dad to deal with these temporary setbacks. Megan is there all of the time and deals with a lot of these issues by herself. Cade is often back home at work during these moments and worries "long distance". These two young parents have exhibited great strength and faith. Please remember all in your prayers!
