Day 8 - Actually the doctors call it day seven but my Aggie math tells me that at 1:03 PM today, we moved into day 8. That is probably one of the several hundred reasons I couldn't be a doctor.
Madison and Mackenzie are having a good day and we were all ready for one. Yesterday, the doctor said Mackenzie had a heart murmur and fluid was building in her lungs but it is treatable. The first treatment, reduce fluids and wait and see, is already showing improvement - no fluid today. If the fluid is still absent tomorrow, she will come off of ventilator. Madison came off of the ventilator this morning.
We are constantly reminded of what the doctor said the first day - two steps forward and one step back will be the norm. We are happy with their progress and today is one of those "step forwards!" Both girls weigh 1 lb., 10 ounces - it as if Mackenzie has decided to catch up to the "one minute" older sister!
