Day 9 - Madison is still off of ventilator and seems to be doing well. She is our "two steps" forward girl. Mackenzie, bless her heart, is having a few problems. She is back on ventilator. She was given medicine in hopes it will repair her heart valve problem. It is given over 18 hours so we won't know until tomorrow afternoon how well it worked. If it doesn't solve the problem, they will do surgery on her to close the valve. The doctors and nurses are simply wonderful and give us a lot of hope just by their care-giving and optimistic approach.
Cade and Megan got to touch both girls a lot today. Megan even got to kiss Madison on the forehead. They continue to show lots of strenth for a couple of 24 year olds. We are very proud of them.
Janny is still working on her "method" to recognize the girls in all of the pictures she is taking. Still a few bugs to work out but she should have it down by the time the girls get to go home in late October. Of course, then she will need another system at that time to keep them straight in a new environment.
They just keep Gramps around for laughs as I try to communicate in "medical terms!" Probably another good reason I didn't make a doctor!
